I’ve always wanted to have a Friendsgiving Dinner. I just love the idea of a time to celebrate friends in a manner that we typically reserve for family. After all, our friends are like family to us all the time! So, this year, we hosted our very first wine dinner at Burklee Hill at Levelland and chose Friendsgiving as our theme! I wanted both an elegant wine dinner and a family-style gathering. We were thrilled with how well it went and how our guests seemed to enjoy it! And, we couldn’t have made it through the evening without our friend and chef, Antonio Pina, of Farm to Fork Catering. Even though we don’t have a full kitchen there, he was willing to bring his food truck to us and serve a full wine dinner out of his truck! Wow! So impressed!
We wanted a rustic elegant feel to compliment the industrial modern look of the tasting room, which features exposed brick, industrial lighting and original iron window frames. I chose a simple burlap runner, fresh silver-dollar eucalyptus and assorted candlesticks. I finished the look off with a seasonal touch of decorative pumpkins sprinkled across the tables.
The simple styling was both for aesthetic as well as practical purposes. We needed plenty of room for the wine glasses and massive family-style platters. Since our theme was Friendsgiving, I wanted to combine the feel of a traditional wine dinner with a family meal where we pass around dishes piled high with comfort food. Farm to Fork Catering was on board with the theme and made sure each platter had plenty for everyone at the table to enjoy.
The menu for the evening was the perfect combination of comfort food meets elegant wine dinner. There was no shortage of exquisitely elegant dishes that still met the hearty appetites of all of our special guests.
Our pastry chef, Sarah Reid (BOLD Grounds Coffee), served up a pumpkin trio and even featured pumpkin brittle and BOLD Grounds Coffee for our guests. And, since it was a family – style gathering, I invited my girls (yes, my daughters!) to entertain for us!
Here’s the full menu for your mouth-watering pleasure! We will definitely host another wine dinner very soon and can’t wait to explore new options for setting the mood and entertaining. We even started the evening with a delicious Cranberry Spritzer! I’ll post that recipe soon as it can be used for Christmas as well!
Can’t wait for our next event and loved having this event in lovely small town, Levelland!
Cheers! – E
