Burklee Hill Vineyards to open tasting room in Downtown Lubbock

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Burklee Hill Vineyards, a new Lubbock company launched by local wine grape growers  and winery owners, Chace and Elizabeth Hill, announces its plans to open a wine tasting room in downtown Lubbock in the historic Kress Building on Broadway. With striking architectural details, the Kress Building was constructed in 1933 and served as the home of the Kress Department Store until 1975. In 1992, the Kress Building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Elizabeth Hill said that they “are thrilled to contribute to the continued efforts for the Lubbock downtown revitalization.” Chace Hill and the Hill family have been growing Texas High Plains wine grapes for 17 years. “The tasting room will offer family-grown wines and introduce more local consumers to Texas wine grown and produced right here on the High Plains,” said Chace Hill. Located close to The West Table and Italian Garden, the Burklee Hill Tasting Room is expected to open later in 2018.

The Hills are excited to join forces with their friends, Michael and Kim Sparks, who have purchased the Kress Building and plan to develop two spaces on the main floor, one of which will be occupied by Burklee Hill. Kim Sparks is the owner and operator of Lubbock favorite home decor store, Jux-Ta-Posh, on nearby Buddy Holly Avenue. The Blog previously featured Jux-Ta-Posh here.
